Photography Tips

• Always carry the camera, no matter how poor the visibility appears.
• Two stage depression of shutter, wait... wait... for the camera autofocus to adjust before the final squeeze.
  
• Carry a couple of torches, primarily to improve poor light conditions.
• Be prepared, some of the best shots happen by chance, and rarely arise from stage underwater scenarios.
• Familiarise yourself with the camera and how to swap quickly from video to still, to close-up.
• Don't rush around like a headless chicken looking for subjects, there is propensity to overlook some unique photo opportunity.
• Position yourself down current of a shot, reduces suspension in the shot.
  
• Never take 1 shot, take 5, and change your distance between each one.
• The best light conditions underwater are when the sun is directly overhead.
• If it is a fish shot stop breathing as the exhalation of bubbles will scare them.
• Always look for the unusual shot, or best backdrop for the photo.
• To get the seals to come close on you; go out of your way to ignore them.
• Avoid eye contact as this is often seen as a threat.
